How did you start creating?
When my youngest child started school I was at a loss and a friend suggested I do a weekly watercolour class, I had never painted before in my life and I LOVED it. That led to my local art college and then to study a Fine Art Degree. We emigrated to Canada and I had a successful art career. Then I discovered the world of furniture artists, teaching and mentoring followed and here I am today. I have a successful Etsy store, I collaborate with Hometalk.com, I make videos for Hometalk TV and promotional videos for businesses I also admin General Finishes University FB page ....gosh I need to go and lie down in a dark room now!
Favorite thing you have ever created?
Other than Catherine, Dominic and Francesca my children? I love that I created a safe and encouraging facebook group for furniture artists a few years ago. Started on a whim it grew so fast. I love the sense of community and the friendships that have formed.
Favorite Paint and Color to work with?
Acrylic and red. My biz name is Dandelions and Poppies enough said! I also love blue, oh I love them all, colour is important to me.
Something most do not know about you
I am a film star. I drink tea all day and the kettle is always on my house.
Flashback to when you were 10 years old. What do you want to be when you grow up?
A train driver!
If you could choose anywhere in the world to live, where would it be and why?
I already did this! I chose to emigrate 21 years ago from the north of England to Vancouver in Beautiful British Columbia; with my husband, 3 young children and fat orange cat. I have never had a moments regret. I love to go back to the UK as a tourist but Canada is my home and I am a proud Canadian.
Finish this sentence. On Sunday mornings, you can usually find me...
Sitting on the sofa with coffee and scouring the world news, I am a news junkie. At the same time looking for new ways to create art, my head is always full colour and ideas. Then off to my art room, listen to an audio book (usually thrillers!) and start creating.
How do you want people to remember you?
As a fun, kind, empathetic, crazy, supportive loving lady.... and a good mum.
