Art Papers for Decoupage, Crafting and Mixed Media

Kelly Huskins

How did you start creating?-
When I was 4 years old my grandma came up to help my mom paint and wallpaper my bedroom. Grandma decided to let me paint the door the color I selected which now reminds me of Pepto Bismal pink and I've been in love with creating ever since. Visits with my grandma always meant creative adventures.

Favorite thing you have ever created?-
Before creating digital art, I'd have to say my all time favorite piece was a commissioned mixed media wall sculpture. It was made out of gorgeous zebra wood that was cut apart into 3 pieces and rejoined using scraps of copper tubing. To that base, I soldered a modern triangular tube stained glass design. I get to see it every now and then and always wish I would've built myself another one. I was a stained glass artist for almost 30 years.

Favorite Paint and Color to work with?-
I might be a little biased but Eye Love Hue is my favorite paint as it was designed to be a versatile paint for furniture, canvas and other applications. Even though I really don't have a favorite color, I did like Whimsykel Lime so much I named it after myself. It's just one of those colors that unexpectedly looks good with all the other colors. Add brown wax to it and it yummy, yummy.

Something most do not know about you-
Most people have not put together that I am the owner of both Whimsykel Designs and Eye Love Hue Paint.

Flashback to when you were 10 years old. What do you want to be when you grow up?-
I wanted to have my own creative business and make an album. By the time I was 14, dad started "Kimball Kraft" for my stained glass business. I had been making stained glass for gifts since I was 9 and people were asking for customs when I was 14. By the time I was 40 I was almost complete with the CD.

If you could choose anywhere in the world to live, where would it be and why?-
I would have a place in a few towns. Having traveled a lot out west growing up, I would love a place on the outskirts of Jackson Hole, Wyoming with a view of the mountains. I would also love to have a place on Tybee Island, GA. It may be a bit of a redneck island but I loved living there.

Finish this sentence. On Sunday mornings, you can usually find me... Relaxing and Creating digital art

How do you want people to remember you?-
As a creative artist who loves not only creating but inspiring and encouraging others to connect with their inner 5 year old and just create.
